pdforte ("we", "the app") respects your privacy. This policy describes how we handle information in connection with the pdforte desktop application and the pdforte.com website.

Information We Collect

The pdforte desktop application processes all PDF files locally on your device. We do not collect, store, or transmit your PDF files or documents to any server.

The pdforte.com website is a static site. We do not use cookies, analytics trackers, or any form of user tracking on this website. Standard server access logs may be retained by our infrastructure provider (Amazon CloudFront) in accordance with their own privacy policy.

AI Translation Features

pdforte offers optional AI-powered translation features. These features require you to provide your own API key from a third-party provider such as DeepL, OpenAI, or Anthropic. When you use these features, your selected text is sent directly from your device to the provider you have configured.

We do not receive, store, or process any data you send to third-party AI providers. Please review the privacy policy of your chosen provider.

Local Storage

pdforte stores your preferences (language, theme, API keys) in a local configuration file at ~/.config/pdforte/settings.json on your device. This data never leaves your device.

Children's Privacy

pdforte is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised. Continued use of pdforte after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
